5 Ways to reduce your monthly expenses when money is real tight...

In a perfect world, we'd all have enough money to live our lives without any money worries. In the real world, that's not always possible. But there are ways to ease the burden, and make our paychecks go a little bit further. So whether you make a lot of money, or a little, if you're struggling to make ends meet, here are some great ideas that may help. You may not like all of them. Some require you to give up things. And others take a little work. If you really want to make your financial situation less stressful, here are 5 ways to reduce your monthly expenses when money is real tight:

1) Shop around. When making a purchase, shopping around for the best price is obvious. But shopping around for expenses like car insurance, homeowners and renters insurance and long distance phone service, it's worth the extra effort. Just pick up your local phone book, or search online to help insure your getting the best price on anything and everything you pay for. Compare services and save!

2) Reduce some unnecessary expenses. Like less minutes on your cell phone bill, or less TV channels on your cable service. These may be hard to live without, but you don't always need to have the most expensive service level on everything.

3) Get rid of others. This might be a little painful, but it will save you money if your serious. What can you survive without? Magazines? Newspapers? Pay per view? Meals at a restaurant instead of making your own? if you're serious, you will come up with a list of applicable items you will be able to survive without!

4) Call your credit cards to lower your payment or interest rate. Sometimes this works. Sometimes it doesn't. But it can't hurt to try. The better your credit and payment history, the more likely you'll get some relief. If you get turned down, work hard to make the payments on time, and call back in 3 or 4 months.

5) Consolidate credit card bills. Contact a credit counseling or debt consolidation service and ask for help. In most cases, they will be able to lower your payments and interest rates, save you money, and help you to apply more money towards paying down your credit card balance.

Keep in mind that fixing your finances takes some effort. But in the end, it will be well worth it. Pull out your monthly credit card bills, checking or savings account statements, and see exactly how you spend your money each month.
